Relationship Mapping

Try It

In a secure area, put up student names on a wall (for a grade or a school). Have all adults in the school mark which students would come to them with an important personal problem. Then, let each student confidentially tell you which adults in your school, if any, they’d turn to for help. Add this information to your map of student/adult relationships.

Discuss It

In person or online, dive into these essential questions:

  • Which students have few or no trusted adults in their lives?
  • How well did the adult perspective align with the student perspectives?
  • How can we ensure that all students are supported by adults in your school?
